LE RADICI MEMBERSHIP MEETING
January 10, 2012
President Kay Corsaro welcomed thirty-nine (39) members to tonight’s meeting. She swore in six new members: John & Donna Brown, Polly Jenkins, Erica & John Sibilia, & Lisa Snyder.
SECRETARY: Virginia Cruickshank read “Thank You” notes from Brimfield Schools for our donation and from Festa Italiana for our support of the Festa. There were no additions or corrections to last month’s minutes. Motion was made by Joe Roversi to accept the minutes & was 2nd by Sally Dalessandro. Ennio Riccillo also wanted to say “Thank You” to Le Radici for our $500 donation to the Italian Language Program.
SUNSHINE: Sympathy Cards were sent to Domenic & Theresa Cornacchione and Sue Palermo.
TREASURER: Giovanni Catalano & John Petzker went to First Merit Bank to review our accounts held there. As of January 1, 2012 there is $19,828.03 in the Checking Account, $32,015.95 in the Savings Account, and our Total Investments are now $48,358.63. We also have $300 cash on hand. The Radio Station money is kept separate. There will be an end of the year report at next month’s meeting.
LA GAZZETTA: Giovanni reported that the picture we sent in for last month’s issue was not used. In the February issue, there will be information about the Italy trip and a recipe from our cookbook. If anyone would like to submit the name of their hometown, Giovanni will do research & include it in our page. We will also show member birthdays.
CHRISTMAS PARTY: Sally Dalessandro reported that the party on December 9th at Guy’s Party Center was a success. There were fifty-eight (58) people there & she received several good comments. The Total Income was $1992.00; Total Expenses were $1973.56 for a Total Profit of $18.44. New Chairpeople are needed for this year’s Christmas Party. Kay wanted to say “Thank You” to Dora Quattrocchi & Isabella Ciraco for their donations of all the cookies served at the Christmas Party.
ITALIAN COUNCIL: Sally Dalessandro reported that at the January 2nd meeting “Thank You” correspondence was read regarding the festival donations. The Council Checking Account Balance is $3787.00 and the final report from the Festival is still being processed. Ann Stephens will do the Columbus Day festivities again. A new slate of officers was read. There will be a Delegate Banquet in March at the Silver Lake Country Club. Le Radici Delegates are Dora Quattrocchi & Sally Dalessandro, and Alternates are Isabella Ciraco & Joe Roversi.
BUILDING: Ennio Riccillo reported that he has been in contact with the County & the EPA regarding the property on Wyoga Lake Road. There are problems with the Septic System. The Committee will meet with the owner to get a better idea about the state of the property & will report to Membership next month.
ITALY TRIP: Giovanni reported that brochures have been printed by JoAnn Gentile. As of today there are nine people for sure, and eight more are uncertain. The deadline is February 29th. The itinerary is flexible. Please contact Giovanni if interested.
FESTIVAL OF NATIONS: This will be held at the Akron Civic Theatre on February 18th at 7pm. There will be several ethnic groups represented. The admission is free. Like last year, we will be selling cookies. Dora Quattrocchi is chairman of this event.
CONCERT: There possibly could be a concert featuring Salvo at the Tallmadge High School on May 12th. Giovanni will know by the end of the week if Salvo is available & we can proceed with our planning.
NEW BUSINESS: Giovanni brought in several tote bags & tee shirts from Dish Network promoting the Italian channel on television. They also gave us a $100 donation.
John Petzker reported that he & Anna will be collecting Acme cashier tapes.
The new Executive Board members were introduced.
Ennio wanted to thank Pat DiLullo for putting a Membership Packet together for new members that includes a certificate, list of members & a copy of the By-Laws.
Tony Dalessandro asked if we could use a sound system so that speakers can be heard in the back of the room. Kay will check with the Country Inn to see if they have one available.
Kay asked if any new members had ideas for events or activities they would like to have. Please contact any Board Member if anyone has any suggestions.
Festa Italiana will be doing a New Year’s Eve party this year.
There is a new Molisanna Club in Wickliffe that has three bocce courts. Maybe in the spring, we could rent them & have an evening of bocce & dinner.
John Petzker will be looking into a possible bus trip to a casino in the spring.
Pat DiLullo reported that all dues are due by the end of March. Please send in your dues to Le Radici, PO Box 258, Tallmadge, OH 44278.
